I actually prefer cheeseburgers over hamburgers, but if I'm on the subject of toppings, I think one of my favorites is a fried egg (hard).

Crisp, cold lettuce. Ripe, red tomato. sweet red onion. After that, aggressive cheese, like a humboldt fog blue, or cheddar.
Red onions and a super fresh tomato are a couple of my favorites as well.
They put an awesome slice of tomato on the chili cheeseburger at Willie's in Sacramento.

hey everyone, like i said b4. I love a good'ol american cheese burger anyday. with lettuce pickles tomato onions and a couple jalapenos. but the best burger toppings that I prefer is this badass burger that my mom always made, it was the buttered buns the pattie the cheese refried beans and sautee onions........freakn "AWESOME"!!!. of course if your gonna use refried beans from a can please sautee some finely chopped onions salt pepper and a little bit of garlic powder to take away that canned flavor.....AAAAAWESOME.
